hercules_2014_wallpaper_1920x1080_by_sachso74-d7lcntd(Which do you prefer? The story or the LEGEND?)

Hello everyone.

How are you? Hope you have a wonderful evening this Sunday.

Today I’ll be writing about Hercules 2014, or Hercules : The Thracian War. There will be minor spoilers and few battle spoilers.

As the cast, we have the legendary Hercules (Dwayne Johnson), the spear-wielding prophet/Narrator
Amphiaraus (Ian McShane), the knife-throwing thief Autolycus (Rufus Sewell), the feral warrior Tydeus (Aksel Hennie), the Amazon archer Atalanta (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) and his nephew storyteller Iolaus (Reece Ritchie).

The plot is taken from Hercules (Radical Comics). If you’ve read the comic, then this movie is going to be very familiar.

The story takes place in Ancient Thrace. Hercules and his brothers (sister) in arms are paid by the Thracian King/Lord Cotys (John Hunt) to train his army of peasants into warriors and eradicate the recent uprising lead by the so-called centaur/magician Rhesus. Little that he know the dark secret of his employer.

Side note :

Dwayne Johnson is a good Hercules. Probably the best I’ve ever seen. Despite his lines being ‘more words, less wisdom’ , it really suits his barbaric nature. But something kept bothering me, The Rock is a great actor, but his lines are bit sloppy and plain.

The movie depicts the legend of Hercules scaled down to earth. Making it less mythological, more believable, making the movie seemed more human than most Hercules adaptations.

Watching this movie had lessen my confidence greatly as Hercules goes on flexing his muscle around and I’m here just all skinny.

Minor spoiler : (Not much as a spoiler, but it is still a spoiler)

Runtime is quite short. You’ll think action packed movies like this would play for hours (*cough*cough* Transformer *cough* Godzilla *cough*). Sadly, it’s only 98 minutes.
There are 4-5 fight scenes. (There’s probably more)

If you’ve watched King Kong, Transformer : Age of Extinction, and many more, you’d recognize some of the moves done in this movie. Such as the jaw ripping scene. Hercules did the jaw ripping scene (twice!).
How awesome is that? 😀

Anyway, the movie is really great. Not that suitable for minors with all that violence but you can always turn a blind eye and watch it for the glory of Hercules.

Then again, what the hell do I know.

Good day everyone.

ShiroKuma Cafe~

I’m Back)

Hello everyone,

Today I’ll be sharing with you an anime that has become a favorite of mine since I laid eyes upon it.

Shirokuma Cafe is a Japanese manga series by Aloha High that was later adapted into an anime series. It revolves around the everyday lives of a group of animals mingling with humans at a café run by a polar bear hence the name ‘ShiroKuma’.

Anyone who has ever watched Crayon Shin-chan would immediately know that ‘Shiro means white. While kuma is clearly ‘bear’. (Thanks Tekken 😉 ) It’s either that or you actually know Japanese.

The characters are pretty generic such as Panda, Penguin, Grizzly, Llama, Sloth, and none other than PolarBear himself. There’s also some humans. (Some, like 4-5 sometimes)

img_0952The story revolves around everything from Penguin’s love life, Polarbear’s love for gags, Panda’s loving himself and being oblivious to the world, Grizzly being all macho and stuff.

It’s very un-linear considering it’s a gag anime/manga.

If you’re learning Japanese and can understand some words here and there then you’re in for a treat as PolarBear is someone who’s obsessed with puns.

Its not-so-linear plot is always helpful as you could always watch it from time to time without actually losing any fillers or information as you move along.

If you’re a big fan of gag anime, then this is a definitely must watch. 🙂

Good Day everyone~~)

Hobby Talk 1 (Characters development)

This is something new and pretty long)

Hello everyone.

I’m too lazy to write something else so I decided to just write anything on my mind. For instance, anime or manga characters, main characters to be pacific. (specific… -_-”)

Based on my own experience and observations, I believed that most, not all, just most of the main characters’ development in manga or anime usually began with a humble beginning. After a lengthy and numerous chapters on fillers, they will usually rose as a significant power or attention toward a certain fictitious world.

Many authors followed this when creating a certain story (even me whenever I’m writing) and to be honest there’s nothing wrong with it. But, there are some who choose otherwise.law-of-ueki-plus-519767

Characters like Kosuke Ueki, Makunouchi Ippo, Kurosaki Ichigo, Goku, and many more who I have no time to addressed are the ones who trained themselves to be powerful. Ueki starting with his so-called lame powers, Ippo with not being a boxer, Ichigo being a substitute shinigami,
and Goku being a kid with no memories.
(+plus, Naruto is also one of them)

There are also a few others like Miyamoto Musashi from Vagabond, Hanamichi Sakuragi from Slam Dunk who was practically nobody at the start of the series.

However, characters such as the Elric Brothers from FMA, Randel Oland from Pumpkin Scissors, Kirito from SAO, and that guy from Log Horizon (Shiro-e) are not like the ones I mentioned above.

KiritoIn their series, all of the characters are already somebody, somebody who you can depend on, somebody who can stand on their own feet, somebody who goes in guns blazing. Someone who already has a certain rank or achievement like being state alchemist, legendary unit, high level characters and so on.

For me, I like all of them. It doesn’t matter which type of plot the author took. I don’t mind reading someone’s inferior life turning into a hectic field of emotions and sufferings or a story where it’s just the protagonist kicking ass all the way through. (There is)

In short, there’s a lot of reason why one should like or admire a piece of work, these 2 are just the tip of an iceberg.

A tiny look at Godzilla 2014

I can’t promise you anything as there will be spoiler

I am back.

And because it is the holidays, I can finally roam around and do stuff I can’t do during the weekends. (Movie day)

Let’s get started.

The film was apparently (a spoiler) and a sequel from the old one. When I say the old one, I mean the original one. From japan. (I’ll explain later)

It started with a black and white film, showing clips and videos of bomb test and droppings over the years. It is revealed in the end of the clips that the were an anomaly creature lurking.

The movie was pretty long. (Around 2 hours) So, if you’re thinking of watching it in a cinema, bring a blanket or something. Or you could just watch it at home.

So, as the actors we have the dashing-ly good-looking Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Lieutenant Ford Brody. Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa, a scientist with Monarch who believe in GodziUntitledlla being the savior of the universe, the ultimate predator and so forth.

Next, we have Bryan Cranston as Joe Brody, Ford’s father, a nuclear physicist and former engineer at the Janjira nuclear plant. He was working at the nuclear plant when something went wrong and completely destoyed the facility, taking her wife (who is played by Juliette Binoche as Sandra Brody) with it.

After quite a long cut (15 years). We are introduced to Elizabeth Olsen as Elle Brody, Ford’s wife, a nurse and their son.

(The picture on the right are Aaron, Bryan, Elizabeth)( Thank you Wikipedia)

The plot started when few of the cast found an egg of a creature that feed on radiaton. (Yes, radiation) It wasn’t long before we are introduced to the first kaiju (monster) which was shockingly not Godzilla. (Or Gojira as Serizawa mentioned)

It was called MUTO during the entire film. (Stands for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism or what I usually call it, a massive pain in the butt) It resembles a huge grasshopper and can actually fly. (One of it can) And later on we are surprised with another MUTO who decided it’s mating time.

Godzilla however, is no longer the one we know from the 1998 film. It is portrayed as a predator, a keeper, the guardian toward the balance of nature. ‘He’ shows no real harm toward humans except when people started becoming frantic and goes guns blazing.

Anyway, the only thing I think that is very nice to enjoy is the fight scene. Oh and about the sequel. It is actually a sequel to the original Godzilla franchise where he is portrayed as a hero. And it is clearly shown when you see his atomic breath melts the inside of the MUTO. (Which is his signature moves from the old movies)

One more thing. About Godzilla. He’s fat.

No, not muscular. He’s clearly fat. But I still love him.

In short. If you love the fight scene from KingKong, you’ll love Godzilla.

A little look on “Log Horizon”

Just a little look. There’ll be no spoiler.

Today we have Log Horizon which is a japanese novel by Mamare Touno. The series follows the strategist, Shiroe, and the other players of the long-lived MMORPG Elder Tale after they find themselves whisked away into the game world following a game update. The world they once knew as a game is now their reality.

Shiroe (pronounced as Shiro-e) is a 23-year-old graduate whose bit of an anti-social, awkward guy. He’s a level 90 enchanter and usually act as a strategist and magician in his team. Traveling along side Shiroe is Naotsugu, a 25-year-old, guy who’s a proud pervert and a lover of panties (Claim himself as “the warrior of panties”) and Akatsuki, a girl who disguise herself as a guy before drinking a potion that enables the game to copy the actual appearance of the player.

That’s it I guess.

Don’t worry, Akatsuki being a girl isn’t a really a major spoiler considering they reveal it pretty early in the novel and anime.

Have a great day everyone. 🙂

Stand Up! Drama Review?

Stuff happened and this is one of it.

(Those who are not a fan of Japanese dramas, look around now, turn back, close the tab, punch your screen, pull the plug, log out,  or  move to a different country) ( ^ . ^)

(Just kidding)

StandUp1 (1)

(While others are studying or having their vacation. I’m having a marathon of dramas)

The story of 4 boys struggling through high school as the only virgins left ( Yes, virgins ). As simple as it may seem, they are struggling more than just high school. Being constantly teased as the only virgins left, they have made up their mind to lose their virginity as soon as possible. This drama will make you laugh, cry and scream the top of your lungs just because of the stupidity

As cute and innocent as it maybe, it’s not. It’s also filled with various adult humour and some things that won’t make sense unless you keep replaying it over and over again. (Believe me, I’ve tried)

This story of summer – love, friendship, school, family, the hypocrisy of adults, complications of life, experience and failure is set in an everyday shopping district and shows the clumsiness of children who have developed a little later than their peers. It’s a bright romantic comedy that both young and old can appreciate.

  • Ninomiya Kazunari as Asai Shouhei
  • Yamashita Tomohisa as Iwasaki Kengo
  • Suzuki Anne as Oowada Chie
  • Narimiya Hiroki as Udagawa Hayato
  • Oguri Shun as Enami Kouji

Ninomiya Kazunari plays a young, shy, high school boy named Asai Shouhei who initially had a crush toward one of his teacher. As the story moves on, he discovered that love is something more than just giving away your virginity, it’s about the emotions and memories that is cherished between two souls. (or more)

Iwasaki Kengo or simply known as Ken Ken is played by Yamashita Tomohisa. Among the 4 members of the virgins, he’s the only one who has a girlfriend. Eventhough he broke up with her later on.
Ken Ken is a train lover. One of the gag in the drama is he can name any train that passes by their neighbourhood everytime. He’s also very intelligent compared to the others by getting a higher score in a certain exam. His mother runs a Love Hotel where he and his friends hangs out and talk about their dire situation.

The most annoyingly loud member of the group is Udagawa Hayato (Udayan) played by Narimiya Hiroki. He’s also the most perverted among them. (So perverted that his nickname is Togoshi’s Erotic Prince)
He’s guitar player and big fan of Sharam Q. (A japanese rock band)

He also over-react quite frequently during the whole story.

Next is Enami Kouji played by Shun Oguri. The captain of their school football team and the most hyped up person in the group. Although he’s the captain of their football team, he’s still single even after a girl confessed her love to him. He hates field trip because of a weird/funny incident that happened when he was a kid.
